Link to the Past! Yea! I was really happy with how this one came out. Dark World is an awesome song, and another one of those common well known video game tunes that has been through a lot of remixing.
The intro is based on the small musical piece that plays when you transport to/from the Dark World to/from the Light World. From there we kick into the Dark World theme. At around 1:08 we use an old GaMetal trick I’ve used a few times in the past: an orchestral interlude. The orchestral interlude leads to a guitar solo which finishes with a strong build up to the 3rd and final loop of the song, where a whole step key change takes place.
I don’t have much to say about the song’s production. Dark World itself isn’t a terribly difficult song to play. It just sounds really cool.
It was important to me to do this song well since it’s such a popular song. I feel Dark World, Bury My Shell at Wounded Knee, and maybe Sandopolis Zone are probably the most solid songs from the 2011 GaMetal era. Everything came together nicely and pretty much exactly how I had wanted it to.
