We’re reaching all the way back to 2010 GaMetal for the next remake in this year’s May Madness event: Rainbow Road from Mario Kart Wii!

Back in 2010, Youtube had a ‘suggestion box’ feature where people could submit ‘suggestions’ and upvote/downvote suggestions made by others. It was a really neat feature, but Youtube ended up axing it for whatever reason. Rainbow Road (Wii) was the first song I pulled from the suggestion box that had the highest vote count at the time.

I didn’t change a WHOLE lot in the last 2 remakes (Count Cannoli and Meridian Dance), but this remake is almost entirely different from my old 2010 version, which sucked. Just about the only thing I kept from the 2010 remix was the style of the intro.

There are far more synth parts in this version. I also let the guitar lead with the melody first (which I did on keys before), and I didn’t repeat that whole section from 00:17-00:50. I also threw in a guitar solo after the first play through, then let the synths handle melody.

I finished with a whole new section: the final lap! It’s faster and up a half step. I’ve been meaning to do this in a Mario Kart remix but I kept forgetting, haha.

I really should do more Mario Kart stuff…
