Here’s our first remake for this year’s May Madness event: Count Cannoli from Wario: Master of Disguise!
A lot of people ask me if I ever got really interested in a game’s soundtrack from requests. Count Cannoli is a prime example of a song I love that I had never heard before it was requested several times back in 2014 when I first covered it. In fact, I never even heard the Wario: Master of Disguise soundtrack until this song was requested, and it’s now one of my favorite DS soundtracks.
Most of the (not sound/mixing related) changes in this remake come in the later part of the song. The first couple of minutes or so I kept the arrangement practically the same as the 2014 remix, including the solo and the original ‘bridge’ section I developed at around 2:08.
The more noticeable changes start with the Carpaccio ‘nod’ after the bridge, which I doubled in length cause it’s pretty cool. I did the next section a bit different (more metalcore breakdown sounding) and then followed that by playing the main melody an octave higher. In the 2014 remake, I pretty much just did the first part of the song over again, but I was a bit more boring back then.
I’m still gonna do Alergia Gardens someday. Count on it!
